We documented the entire creative journey behind Adela Goldbard’s monumental installation, “Invadieron por Mar, Respondemos con Fuego: Un Presagio,” for the Boston Public Art Triennial. Through a comprehensive visual narrative, we captured the intricate cross-border collaboration required to build this massive colonial ship effigy, from its initial construction in Mexican workshops to its final exhibition in Boston. Our detailed coverage highlights how the project aligns with the Triennial’s theme of “exchange,” showcasing the subversion of traditional pyrotechnics from historical tools of oppression into a joyous celebration of cultural identity and resilience. By recording every aspect of these subversive rituals, we aimed to convey the artist’s profound vision of fire as a medium for catharsis and rebirth, effectively bridging the gap between history, traditional craftsmanship, and contemporary art for a wider audience.
